- Jeremy Beck & the Heavy Duty Horns is an 8 piece funk and soul band. They were looking for a 1975 NYC tough vibe–Something retro but not “cute” retro with a 1975 Saturday Night Live urban feel. The band has a four-piece horn section and Hammond b3 organ.
- For this design, I started by listening to some of their music on your website. Then I did some research on the band history and influence. Most urban logos share a thick sans serif type with lettering from 1975. I was drawn to fonts like Blippo, and Bauhaus-inspired phototype faces for their bold lines and curves. So I paired that with a more compact vintage style lettering, that I then customized to better match those nice curves.
